Calangute is located in North Goa, India. It is famous for its beach, visited by domestic and international tourists alike.
To the north lies Arpora and south Candolim. To the east lies Saligao, and the arabian sealashes its waves along the west. Calangute is 9 km from Mapusa City, & 14 km from Panjim the capital of Goa, Languages spoken include Konkani, Marathi and English. The town is popular due to water sports, which are offered on the beaches of Calangute.
The nearest railway station is at Thivim, and taxi from there takes about 20 minutes. Other railway stations are at Margao and Vasco.
Frequent state buses go to and from other parts of Goa, but if you're traveling a longer distance, you need to change buses.
Calangute is a quite a small area, and you can easily walk your way through it. Two-wheelers and cars are available for hire, and getting a taxi or an auto rickshaw is easy.
The coastline is nearly full of beach shacks. For better cuisine you can choose from numerous restaurants that are found along the roads.
